Take a look around

My kids and I have a voice—and we won’t be silenced. That’s why it’s called UNMUTED.

The idea comes from our lives: the good moments, the difficult ones, the everyday challenges and the situations that leave you wondering how any of this became your problem in the first place.

Part of that story involves my experience with an ex I found manipulative, police complaints, court proceedings and rumours about my life that I strongly dispute. There’s a particular frustration in hearing other people tell your story, make assumptions or repeat claims while you’re left trying to get your own voice heard.

Dealing with that takes time and energy. Meanwhile, everyday life carries on. There’s work to get to, kids to look after, things that need fixing and responsibilities that don’t conveniently disappear because you’re having a difficult week.

UNMUTED gives us a creative way to bring those experiences to light. Animation and humour let us explore difficult situations, express that frustration and find something to laugh about—even when the original experience wasn’t particularly funny. It also gives us room to tell stories that might make someone watching think, “Yep, I know exactly what that feels like.”

My kids and I are at the heart of it.

Our story includes basketball, netball, dirt bikes, working on cars, shed projects, adventures and the ordinary moments we spend together. It includes having a laugh, giving something a go, getting things wrong and making memories along the way.

There’s plenty of material in everyday life alone. Driving between schools fixing technology. Coming home to a house that’s still being renovated. Trying to keep the cars running, the yard under control and the list of jobs somewhere below completely unreasonable.

Then there’s trying to finish one renovation before starting another three. The “quick job” that takes the entire weekend. Fixing one thing and discovering two more problems behind it. At some point, you either have a laugh or stand in the shed staring at the wall. Sometimes there’s time for both.

That mix is what belongs in UNMUTED: family life, frustration, small wins, setbacks, small-town drama and the everyday chaos of trying to keep everything moving. There’s room to take the piss out of my own decisions too. The unfinished projects alone should keep the writers busy.

Some of it is exaggerated.
Some of it really doesn’t need to be.

The series uses fictional characters, locations and storylines, drawing on real experiences throughout. Some moments are adapted or pushed further for comedy; others stay close to life. Animation doesn’t mean every situation has been invented. Sometimes reality supplies enough absurdity without anyone needing to improve the script.

Creating UNMUTED is a way to put our energy into something we can enjoy making together. It gives the difficult experiences somewhere to go, while making room for the good moments that deserve just as much attention.

We want to speak about the difficult stuff, laugh at the chaos and celebrate our life together. Through it all, we still have our personalities, our humour and our voices.

We’ve got a voice, a sense of humour and a story to tell.

UNMUTED won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. Some content may offend, some subjects may feel uncomfortable and some jokes won’t land with everyone. We’re upfront about that. We’re telling a story inspired by our lives, in our own way, with our own sense of humour.

If it’s not for you, there’s plenty else to watch.

The remote’s yours.
